Young Chef & Big Society Update from RIBI

Hello everyone

Rotary Young Chef

Rotary Young Chef will kick off at a local level in September when the schools are back and the plans for the RIBI Final are already well in progress. Artwork for fliers and posters is being produced and will be downloadable and some hardcopy will be available.

I am pleased to announce that Filippo Berio are fully supporting us again this year and through them we have also secured the support of Delicious magazine. They are going to offer additional promotion and this has started with an excellent article on their own website. Click the link below to view it. This will almost certainly come to the attention of teachers and parents and at a club level open up new opportunities for working with schools.

Please continue to spread the word.  I’d like to thank our colleagues at Filippo Berio for their wonderful support and enthusiasm.

Big Society

You cannot have failed to hear about the Prime Ministers ideas on the Big Society and how it is hoping to train and enlist the young people of the UK to build a better society. I want you to know that Rotary Youth Opportunities have not been slow in responding  via a press release  to the major daily titles and letters positioning Rotary as a potential partner in the provision of leadership training and personal development opportunities for young people. RYLA, Interact, Young Citizen, Young technologist, the competitions all link into the needs that the PM sees as the growing needs of young people.

We’ll keep you posted. I know you will all be interested in this information, but if any of you have changed your district responsibilities and are no longer the DYO, then please let me know and provide the new officer details.

Yours in Rotary

Denis Spiller
