Rotary in London responds to Queensland Floods

I’ve had more and more requests from Districts/clubs asking for advice on how we in RIBI can support those affected by the Australian floods. At present the situation is changing by the hour and as yet we haven’t identified the needs of those affected. This will become clearer as the water subsides. Initially I emailed DG Eric Wood from District 9600. However it appears that Districts 9570 and 9630 have also been seriously affected. This morning I emailed the three District Governors concerned and asked them if they could identify a need in their area either club to club or District to District. As soon as I hear from them I will pass on the information.

Australia is different from many other disaster areas as the government will react quickly as they have the infrastructure to deal with the situation. I would suggest that the advice to clubs is, if they want to support the people in the devastated areas that they wait until we can identify the immediate need.

I am very friendly with the DG from D9630, so if a club needs to make contact, please let me know.
