After an extended period of evening sessions at the District Headquarters in York Gate, we have now completed the 9 Service Assembly Sessions and the President Elects’ Training Seminar.

The outcome was a series of sessions with some lasting nearly 3 hours, mostly because of extended discussion and breakout sessions.

The proof of the exercise will be the feedback (overwhelmingly in favour so far) and the level of service being undertaken in the Clubs. There were some issues raised however, and these will be addressed in the planning for next year.

Overall, we made a significant change to the organisation of the District Assembly and that change was well received. Well done to all the seminar leaders, and well done to Lucille and Sydney who organised all 10 evening’s catering.

You can find the sessions and their materials by Clicking Here.

The District Assembly Dinner at the Royal National Hotel took place on 9th April 2013, and was well attended by Clubs from all over the District. To our great delight, we even had a visitor, Luigi Mula, from Milan, Italy! The principle speaker was the incoming President of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland, Nan McCreadie who spoke on the priorities from the perspective of the National and International Leadership of Rotary International. Incoming District Governor Dick Nathan also spoke on the journey for the District in the coming year and the training events that would be related to the Service undertaken by the District in the coming Rotary Year. The event ran like clockwork thanks to the detailed preparation and planning of Lucille Parker and her District Events team, and the evening was enjoyed by all those that came, despite the difficulties of travelling on the underground. The staff at the Royal National Hotel in the centre of London also did a splendid job.

We now move on to a series of individual training seminars dealing with topics like Communications and Public Image, Community Service, The Rotary Foundation, International Service, Membership, New Generations (youth competitions, clubs and international exchanges), and Vocational Service. There are also special sessions for the Club Presidents, the Club Secretaries and the Club Treasurers.

The event was judged by all present as a notable success.
