The 'London' Conference - 15-17 October 2010 - Eastbourne
We are celebrating the rich diversity of our London clubs and their 77 Presidents in this the first “LONDON” Conference We retain the reduced registration fee from last year at £45 for those registering before Sept. 17th (£55 thereafter!) Registration will take place in the Foyer of the Congress Theatre from 10.00a.m. onwards on the Friday and the first Plenary Session will commence at 1.30pm.
On Friday for the first time, from 11.15am to 1.15pm an inexpensive Pre-Conference Ploughman’s lunch will be available in the delightful ‘Gold Room’ Above the Floral Hall in the Winter Garden complex. R.I. & R.I.B.I., representatives plus DG David & Carole and other guests will also be there, do come and say ‘Hello’. At the end of the 1st Plenary session, which ends at 4.30pm after a fund of stories from London Blue Badge Guide Laurence Summers, there will be three separate receptions for the Presidents, Presidents-Elect and Foundation Scholars and Counsellors plus the team in The Cavendish Hotel; starting at 5.45pm and finishing at 6.30pm in good time for your Hotel Dinner, and the show. The entertainment in the evening will be provided by three interspersed Tribute Groups - Buddy Holly, the Everly Brothers, and Roy Orbison - with music from “The Crickets”
On Saturday morning comes the second Plenary Session. Starting with a parade of Scholars (with their Counsellors) hopefully in their national costumes in a celebration of the London Clubs involved in the Programme. Young Rotarian activity will also feature, and the session will include Presentations from our RI Representative plus two other guest speakers: the inventor Trevor Baylis OBE and the champion Jockey Bob Champion MBE. In the afternoon, there will be an opportunity for you to put your questions about the future of Rotary to a distinguished panel. The Golf competition at the Royal Eastbourne Golf Club is organised again by PDG Don Merritt and will tee-off at 1.15pm and the price £36 includes Coffee/Tea/Biscuits & Prizes! (To be presented on stage Sunday morning). Saturday evening there will be the District Gala Dinner in the Floral Hall, followed by dancing to ‘INNOVATION’.
On Sunday morning, there will be a Third Plenary Session, starting with a Parade of Presidents. Entertaining speakers follow including Bernard Cribbins, and to conclude the London Conference, former mayor Ken Livingstone will speak on the joy of London Living.
The London Showcase under Alan O’Neill’s supervision will be better than ever!
