Rotary in London Athletics Meeting for Schools

Crystal Palace National Stadium - Sunday June 30th 2013


This is an annual meeting, organised by Rotary Clubs in London, for boys and girls from local schools in two age groups - Years 7 and 8 and Years 9 and 10. A maximum of 20 schools may compete and places are allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis.

Competition Rules

Conditions of entry – we abide by the rules laid down by the South of England Athletics Association.

Class of entry Girls Years 7 and 8 Boys Years 7 and 8
  Girls Years 9 and 10 Boys Years 9 and 10

Event entry – no competitor may enter more than three individual events (two track and one field or one track and two field) plus relay.

Each school may enter three competitors per event but only one relay team per class of entry.

Semi-finals – should it be necessary to run semi-finals, they will take place immediately after the relay heats.

Late arrivals – track events take priority over field events and will not be held upfor late arrivals.

Individual medals – first, second and third place in each event will receive a medal, which will be presented soon after the final of that event, when results have been verified.

Points – points towards the team’s total will be awarded in all events as follows:1st = 5 points, 2nd = 3 points, 3rd = 2 points, 4th = 1 point

Trophies – a trophy will be presented to :

  • a boy and a girl for Best Individual Performance
  • a boy or a girl for Best Endeavour
  • the winning team in each Relay Final
  • the team in each class of entry with Most Points

Presentations – trophies and relay medals will be presented after all events havebeen concluded. NB - all teams will be expected to remain for the presentations.
