World Record Planting Attempt on 7 May 2017

Rotarians, friends and volunteers from across London came to Canon's Park in Stanmore on Sunday 7 May 2017 to attempt to gain the World Record for simultaneously planting bulbs. With an excellent turn out and dry weather, we are optimistic that we will gain the record.

Meal Packing Event at Hayes Park 23 August 2016

London Rotarians turned up for 3 2.5 hour shifts at Kraft-Heinz Foundation's facility at Hayes Park in Hayes to pack 100,000 meals for shipment to a school in Kibera, Kenya. The meals concentrate on rice, soya, dried vegetables and lentils, and include a vitamin supplement sachet. The food was donated by Kraft-Heinz Foundation, and Kraft-Heinz CSR Volunteers joined the Rotarians to make sure the target was achieved. Our thanks go to Stop Hunger Now who organised the event.

4th Impact take time out to thank Rotary

Popular, all girl, Philippine singing group 4th Impact, who were voted off X Factor on Sunday 30 November took time out of their busy schedule to stop by the Rotary Club of Elstree and Borehamwood, to say a big thank you to Rotary for all the help and assistance their country had received following Hurricane Haiyan in November 2013. The Rotary Clubs across Great Britain and Ireland had provided 500 Shelter Boxes at a cost of nearly 300,000.

District Minibus Project to Chernihiv, Ukraine

A video showing key elements of the journey from London to Chernihiv in Northern Ukraine undertaken in July 2015. The project got excellent coverage in the press and television in Ukraine, with Rotary being mentioned frequently.

Rotaract in London Brilliant End Polio Now Video

The Rotaract Clubs in London got together and made a video for their party to support Rotary's End Polio Now campaign on Rotary's Birthday. Credit goes to the brains behind the video - Alexandru Calcan, the composer (and performer) of the song - Michael Bianco, and all the London Rotaractors who took part. Well done Rotaract!!

Rotary in London Foundation Donors Appreciation Event

The Rotary Clubs in London who had donated to the Rotary Foundation in the previous year were invited to a special evening at the York Gate Headquarters on 25th September 2013 at which the Rotary Foundation expressed its thanks. As well as talks from leading Rotarians, there was musical entertainment from youngsters who had participated in Rotary in London's competition for Young Musicians.

Rotary in London Completes First Flash Mob

The Rotary Clubs in London took part in their first ever Flash Mob during the week of 14 October 2013. It started with the visit to the Palace of Westminster with a RotaKids Club, and then moved on to some tom-foolery on stage at the Eastbourne Conference in Eastbourne at the end of the week. Enjoy!

Bill Gates presented the Richard Dimbleby Lecture on the BBC on 29 January 2013, and in this excerpt he gives full credit to Rotary International for its 3 decade involvement in the campaign to eradicate Polio from the world reproduced here by kind permission of BBC Television.

Rotary in London at the New Year's Day Parade 2013

New Year's Day in London was sunny with a chill wind blowing steadily, but despite that the Rotarians from a number of Clubs in London, supported by visitors from the Surrey District (D-1140) were in fine form for the parade, where they were guests of the London Borough of Harrow.

Supporting "Hats Off to Harrow", a borough in the North West of London, they marched through Piccadilly, Regent Street, Pall Mall, and Whitehall finishing up in Parliament Square. The theme of "A Community United" sat very well with the Rotary Ethos.

This is the PowerPoint presentation given by DGE Dick Nathan at the District Council Meeting on 31 October 2012, complete with the two resolutions which were both moved and then adopted unanimously at the meeting.
